This blog’s author (who is, curiously, writing about himself in the third person) is one Z. Daniel Barnett. Young Daniel split his formative years between the coastal city of Brunswick, Georgia – in which he lived for several years – and Cambridge, Ohio, where he spent his late-childhood and adolescence. He is currently a student of English at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, and plans to pursue a career in the field of Journalism or Publishing.
Now, enough of that back-flap-of-a-dust-cover mumbo-jumbo. I am a young writer who is searching for his niche in today’s literary world. I write mostly poetry (at least for the time being), but also essays and short stories. Besides my aspirations at author-dom, I am a jack of all trades, but master of none: a self-taught pianist, a weekend therapist, an amateur bartender and sommelier, a fervent student of sarcasm and wit, a modern gentleman, madman, and scholar.
As for the content of this blog, look for the occasional smattering of original fiction/poetry (or that taken from author’s I admire), as well as essays written of the things I know best: late nights, literature, music, film, fine food and drink, the ways of a gentleman, and women. (Admittedly, I know less about the latter than any of the former, but I’ll probably end up writing on said topic anyway.)
